Minutes Summary for 09/15/2009
Meeting was called to order by Sam KG9NG
The Fox Hunt was last month. It started with a little technical difficulties, and the transmitting power was increased to 50 watts. First place was Brad and Kevin, followed by Fredrick and Betsy. Both teams were in the Doppler category.
There will be another fox hunt this Saturday at 3:00pm starting from Garner Park.
Treasures Report - $5292, 103 members
Guests - Matt WA9EKQ, Jay KC9KDD, and Curt. Curt will be attending the upcoming tech class.
Upgrades - Steve KC9NVK upgraded from tech to general. Sarah Elizabeth WA9SE became a lifetime ARRL member.
VE Report -July: 2 techs, 2 generals. August: 3 techs, 1 general. Tech class is coming up this weekend, VE session this Sunday at 3:30.
Repeater News - BARS meetings are starting back up in October, and will be the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. They are planning a fox hunt Saturday October 10th. The Amateur Radio Newsline will play at the end of next week's Info Net, which will start at 8:00 pm September 24th.
Old Business - Sam and Frederick met with Diana at the Red Cross to discuss FLARC's role with the Red Cross. The radio room at the Red Cross building has been converted into a server room, and FLARC no longer has access to the room or the radios in it. The Red Cross will be utilizing ARES to handle radio communications if needed in the future. The FLARC radio equipment will be removed from the room, and will be available for general use, such as Field Day, for new hams to borrow, etc. Some FLARC members will be meeting at the Red Cross building on October 12th to remove the equipment from the radios and antennas owned by FLARC.
New Business - Dennis Matson KC9FMY had surgery last Tuesday, so please wish him well if you hear him on the air. Pat N9GJD is looking for somebody who would be willing to provide occasional computer tech support. On October 3rd from 9:00 am to noon ARES will be conduction a simulated emergency on the '15 repeater. Ham support is needed for the Shelley Glover bicycle event on September 26th in the Dells, and for the upcoming Chicago Marathon.
